I tried making cakes but it was a bit of an epic failure. I had two recipes printed out, and accidentally switched which one I was following halfway through, so I have to make both and combine them in the one bowl, meaning that I made double the amount of cakes. Also, I mixed up cocoa power with instant drinking chocolate powder, and didn’t add enough of it to make the cakes properly chocolatey at any rate. Then quite a few of them exploded out of the cases in the oven and stuck together in a big cake mass. But I added a ton of icing and chocolate sprinkles and Smarties, and now they are mostly edible, so it may have worked out in the end. The test will be feeding them to people tonight, if they have enough structural integrity to survive the car journey to my friends’ house.

It’s like an episode of a situation comedy! :P

According to consensus, it is the rare person who enjoys the Socratic method of the One-L experience. Most people would be less than enthusiastic about studying the holding and dictums of Pennoyer v. Neff, the civil procedure opinion that has puzzled generations of lawyers, and the same goes for equally celebrated cases in contracts (the damage of the “hairy hand”), torts (Mrs. Palsgraf’s accident), property (the fox hunt ended prematurely in Pierson v. Post), and criminal law (the reluctant cannibals Dudley and Stephens).

No, it really isn’t for everyone. Can anyone apply? Yes. Can anyone get in if you meet the prerequisites? Yes. Should everyone apply? Clearly no, and not just because I don’t want my job market flooded when I graduate in a few years. You have to work hard. You have to be prepared. You have to come class. I know people in my section who can’t say they are some or even all of these things.

Not to mention the cost. Student loans and grants only get you so far. You have to be willing to sacrifice a lot to go to law school. If you aren’t then don’t waste my time coming.
